Cut Chemist Sound Of Tha Police Flyer

Hes a founding member of the legendary west coast hip hop crew Jurassic 5 and the hugely successful worldlatinbeats posse Ozomatli.

Cut Chemist also collaborated with DJ Shadow on two of the most in-demand remix CDs ever and is regarded by all as a virtuoso of decks, cuts and loops.

Now the turntablist extraordinaire brings his envelope-pushing live show to Australia for his cut n scratch audio-visual blowout; Sound Of Tha Police.

This is Cut Chemist at the peak of his powers, a master craftsman, creating some of the wildest slabs of music you have ever heard right in front of your eyes using turntables, a mixer, a loop pedal and all original vinyl pressings. Accompanying Cut Chemist is long-time visual collaborator, Tom Fitzgerald, the virtual founding father of LAs Cinefamily and king of disintegrating digital video deconstructions; a guy who is able to manipulate, warp and destroy clips in ways that are hilarious, groovy, musical and psychedelicized like no other.

The music chosen for this mix goes quite a bit deeper into the crate than his other contributions. Driven by his passion for Ethiopian, Colombian, Sudanese and Afro-Brazilian sounds respectively, this mix also features a few classic tunes you might recognize. Sound Of Tha Police by Cut Chemist puts it all in context to help the listener remember that hip hop culture is indeed rooted in Africa.

ART vs SCIENCE are pleased to announce their first headline tour in almost a year, featuring a brand new show including the live debut of tracks from their 2 album The Experiment. As it happens, their self-titled debut EP has just attained Platinum sales.

Currently making waves on their first US tour (including five acclaimed floor-shaking performances at SXSW), the three piece continue their steady ascendancy by winning over fans Stateside, one show at a time. They return to Australia next weekend, just in time to play triple j’s One Night Stand event in Tumby Bay, South Australia.

ART vs SCIENCE will be ably supported by rising stars STRANGE TALK. You will have heard their instant classics ‘Climbing Walls’ and ‘Eskimo Boy’ on community radio and triple j recently, and their debut EP (released via tastemaking labels Kitsune and Neon Gold) is already garnering local and international attention.

Presented by: Niche Productions

Following on from their smashing performances across Oz as part of the Good Vibrations 2011 Festival, New Zealand’s Fat Freddy’s Drop roll into Brisbane for the first time since 2009 as part of their ‘On The Road To Brisbane’ Tour.

A play on words from their upcoming shows at Brixton Academy, Fat Freddy’s Drop are bringing this international experience to Brisbane for two nights; a rare treat for any city to get their fill of Cay Cray’s either night of the weekend.

Since the release of their live album Live At The Roundhouse, the Wellington based 7 piece have begun working on their third (as yet untitled) studio album in and amongst a plethora of shows at home and abroad. Their last record Dr Boondigga and The Big BW spawned the massive singles The Camel, Pull The Catch and the ever-popular live favourite Shiverman, which are sure to get a rinse at these shows.

Get on the road with one of New Zealand’s most successful acts as they once again cross the Tasman to offer Queenslanders not one but two chances to enjoy their mind-blowing live show.

Sampology's Super Visual Monster Mash Flyer

Think of the Super Visual Monster Mash like turning a live music venue into a cinema for the night and dancing your butt off to your favourite movies, tv shows and music clips of all time. All performed live by an internationally renowned turntable technician.

Super Visual Monster Mash is Sampology’s third instalment in his legendary Super Visual AVDJ series. Inspired by horror films bad and good, from today and decades ago, Super Visual Monster Mash features cameo appearances by Charlie Sheen, Kenny Powers, Bill Murray, ET, Freddy Kruger, , Harry, (and The Hendersons) Jason Voorhees, Michael J Fox and Hulk Hogan, scarier than you’ve ever seen him.

The technical aspect to Sampology’s Super Visual AVDJ shows is pretty darned impressive. He’s madly manipulating video via two turntables and a  mixer and triggering animations from his drum machine, all projected live onto a big-ass widescreen.

But it’s Sampology’s cheeky sense of humour, sprinkled across the exerts from film and TV shows, filmclips, YouTube clips and vintage VHS finds that takes your ordinary club night and turns it into a stupidly exciting and crazy fun visual mashup. Its like dancing your tits off at your favourite movie of all time, and laughing the whole way through.

Fresh from his US tour including SXSW, New York and LA, and his return national tour following Big Day Out earlier this year, don’t miss Sampology’s Super Visual Monster Mash Australian tour.

Brisbane support is from the fine talents of Tom Thum delivering a world class performance using his vocal chords, a mic, samplers and effects pedals as well as some very special guests embracing the Monster Mash spirit – Cutloose & Dr Rhythm, (dex and drums exorcism) Wolfwolf, (live) Jason ‘Voorhees’ Miert vs Fid ‘Freddy Kruger’ Frantic, Charlie ‘Ghostface’ Hustle vs Danny ‘Death Trap’ Cool and Ill ‘Frank the Rabbit’ Kid.

This one’s a dressup folks, get amongst the Super Visual Monster Mash vibe – there’s a monstrous prize on the night for Sampology’s favourite horrific getup.
